The village of Alrewas, just a few miles from Lichfield, boasts a week-long community arts festival which is celebrating its 20th birthday later this month.

We’ll be busking at the street market on the opening day, Saturday 22 August, between 12 noon and 2pm, so pop along and say hello.

We had a fine time this afternoon at the Kings Bromley Summer Show, playing under the trees between the coffee wagon and the red double-decker bus bar.

Thanks to the show organisers and show goers we can send £146.50 to the Crisis charity that helps the homeless.

We’ll be playing in one of our favourite Staffordshire villages tomorrow (Saturday 25 July) as Kings Bromley, not far at all from Lichfield, gets the stalls erected, the bar stocked and the dogs groomed for the dog show.

The main ring entertainment has magic for all from Magical Mayhem and songs from Kings Bromley Harmony Choir.

We’ll be busking in the vicinity of the bar area sometime between 2 and 5pm.

Kings Bromley Show

It has been a busy weekend with two appearances in two days, and involving a four-mile journey. This is as near to touring as we’re likely to get.

Saturday was a private party very close to our hearts: Kate Serenader’s 40th birthday in Emily Serenader’s and Il Maestro’s back garden. It even featured an exceedingly unseasonal Christmas carol.

Yesterday we were delighted to be invited to play outside Shenstone Community Library. The library’s volunteers were as lovely and generous as our ever-changing audience. Thanks to them we raised another £105 for the Crisis charity.

We’ll be at Shenstone Community Library from 2pm this Sunday, 5 July, as part of the biennial Shenstone Village Festival.

The weather got in the way of our outdoor appearance at the Kings Bromley Jazz Festival but the volunteers behind the tea and cake table were very happy to share their foyer with us.

Kate Serenader’s absence was remarked upon but still generous organisers and attendees meant we have been able to donate another £90 to Crisis. Thank you to KBJF!

We’ll be suffering delusions of grandeur tomorrow (Saturday 16 May) as we’re included in the programme of the Kings Bromley Jazz Festival.

It’s a one and a bit-day thing which starts this evening and continues tomorrow, all at Kings Bromley Village Hall.

We’re playing in between the proper jazz acts and will be out the back of the hall (or somewhere inside if it’s raining) from 5.40 to around 7.20pm.

We remembered the songs, we remembered our hats, the passers-by were generous and we raised £60 for the Crisis homeless charity.

The Wayside Serenaders will be gathering in Dam Street, Lichfield, this Sunday morning.
